John Anderson is the managing director of Practice Management for Independent Advisor Solutions by SEI. He has been with SEI for over 25 years and is responsible for all programs focused on helping financial advisors grow their businesses, create efficiencies in their operations and differentiate their practices. John is frequently quoted in publications, such as Investment News, Financial Planning magazine and The Wall Street Journal, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and industry forums. He is also the lead author of SEI’s practice management blog, Practically Speaking, found at seic.com/practicallyspeaking and has written or co-written 15+ industry whitepapers on topics such as advisory fees and the client experience. Alongside his practice management responsibilities, he also manages a team that provides investment research, case support, analysis and financial planning ideas to bolster the efforts of SEI’s advisors.

J. is responsible for defining investment solution strategy, developing or enhancing the existing solution offering, and managing the launch of new products. Previously, J. worked as Head of Investment Strategy and Chief Administrative Officer for Capital Preferences, Ltd., where he was responsible for day-to-day operations and the development of quantitative methods that integrated behavioral finance with asset management.

J. graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Southern California, and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Gies is an advisor education and sales force development manager at Capital Group, home of American Funds, where he focuses on training high-level advisors. He has 36 years of investment industry experience and has been with Capital Group for 16 years. Prior to joining Capital, Chris was at UBS PaineWebber as the national sales manager for the private client group, a branch and district manager, and a division sales manager. Before that, he was an account executive for E.F. Hutton. He holds an MBA from Eastern Michigan University. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner™ certification. Chris is based in Park City, Utah.
